Everything you need for Round 37 of Dunkest NBA Fantasy. From fantasy basketball tips, position by position:
Centers
Daniel Gafford (Dallas Mavericks, 10.5 cr)
The stress fracture in Dereck Lively’s ankle, which will keep him out for at least 2 months, has once again opened the door for Daniel Gafford to start. The 26-year-old Arkansas product has immediately stepped up with 3 double-doubles in the last four games, and he aims to continue his strong performances against the Washington Wizards.
Nick Richards (Phoenix Suns, 7.8 cr)
The Phoenix Suns’ new acquisition has immediately established himself as the starting center, at the expense of Jusuf Nurkic, who is increasingly on the fringes of the rotations and at odds with the franchise. The matchup against the Clippers is important for the standings, and Richards will be key to containing Ivica Zubac’s physicality on the boards.
Forwards
Scottie Barnes (Toronto Raptors, 14.9 cr)
The young forward for the Raptors has been improving in recent games, surpassing 40 Dunkest points in two of the last three matches. He faces the New Orleans Pelicans, who have the third-worst defense in the NBA. His versatile game could even lead him to record a triple-double, something he’s come close to in recent performances.
Kelly Oubre Jr (Philadelphia 76ers, 9.2 cr)
The left-handed forward for the 76ers is certainly one of the few bright spots in this disastrous season, and he’s taking advantage of the recurring absences to put up strong numbers, especially on the boards. Oubre has exceeded 20 points scored and ten rebounds grabbed in the last two games, and he can continue his positive trend against the Los Angeles Lakers in the back-to-back.
Guards
Damian Lillard (Milwaukee Bucks, 16.8 cr)
The Bucks’ guard is coming off two performances with over 50 Dunkest points: first, a double-double against the Heat, and then a triple-double against the Clippers. Now, Dame is gearing up for the matchup against the Utah Jazz, against whom he scored 34 points and 7 assists in the previous meeting, earning over 50 Dunkest points.
Desmond Bane (Memphis Grizzlies, 14.3 cr)
The lesser-known guard from Memphis is the one showing the most consistency and reliability, even on Dunkest. Without the flashiness of the more social Ja Morant, Bane has recorded over 30 Dunkest points in seven of the last 8 games, with impressive assist numbers. The matchup at Madison Square Garden in New York presents the perfect opportunity for him to shine in the spotlight.
Coach
Jason Kidd (Dallas Mavericks, 6.7 cr)
The Dallas Mavericks, due to Luka Doncic’s injury, have slipped into the Play-In zone in the highly competitive Western Conference, but they can try to climb the standings with a win against the Washington Wizards. The capital’s franchise “boasts” a streak of thirteen consecutive losses and seems more focused on increasing its chances of acquiring Cooper Flagg than winning games.
Doug Christie (Sacramento Kings, 7.9 cr)
Doug Christie’s arrival as head coach marked a turning point for the Sacramento Kings, who since that day (December 27) have posted an excellent record of 10 wins and only 4 losses, climbing the standings into Play-In territory. The matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, who have lost nine of their last ten games, should not pose significant challenges, even though it’s an away game.
