The NFL season started with 32 teams fighting to get to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX, and now, that battle is down to just four teams.Β
After a wild divisional round that saw one huge upset, the AFC Championship and NFC title game are now both set. That huge upset came from the Washington Commanders, who stunned the Detroit Lions, 45-31, earning their first trip to the NFC title game since 1991.
Washington had the NFC’s longest drought without a conference title game appearance, but that unfortunate title now belongs to the Dallas Cowboys, who haven’t been to the NFC title game since 1995.Β Β
The Commanders, who were an 8-point underdog against the Lions, will now travel to Philadelphia for the NFC Championship. The Eagles are back in the NFC title game for the third time in eight seasons after beating the Los Angeles Rams, 28-22, in a snowy thriller at Lincoln Financial Field. This will mark the first time since the 1986 season that two NFC East teams will be playing each other in the conference title game.Β
The Commanders and Eagles met twice this season with each team winning at home.Β
In the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs are headed back to the AFC Championship for the seventh straight season, which is the second-longest streak in NFL history, trailing only the New England Patriots, who made eight straight appearances starting in 2011.Β
The Chiefs will be hosting the Buffalo Bills in a game that will mark the fourth time over the past five years that the two teams have met in the postseason. The Chiefs have won all three of the three previous meetings. The Chiefs are aiming to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls while the Bills are gunning to get to their first Super Bowl win in franchise history.Β
The Bills will go into the game with some confidence after beating the Chiefs 30-21 back in Week 11.Β
Let’s take a look at the complete 2025 NFL playoffs schedule.
