The Houston Rockets continue to be linked in trade rumors to potentially available stars. The latest iteration has Houston potentially being a match for Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat. However, Rockets general manager Rafael Stone continues to insist his team is unlikely to make a big trade this season.
“Of course, my job is to be open to everything, so Iβm not going to not do my job,β Stone said.Β βWe like this team. We definitely do not intend to change anything, and I would be shocked if something changes this season.
“We like where weβre at. We want to continue to develop our guys, full stop. Will I listen to other teams? Of course I will, thatβs my job. But again, thereβs no part of me, thereβs no part of our decision-making process that suggests that weβre looking to do anything big now or in the near term.”
Stone went on to say the Rockets plan to take this season and will evaluate where they are ahead of next offseason.
“We definitely want this group to be as good as it can be this year and then weβll evaluate things at the end of the year,” Stone said. “But the hope is very much that this core group can lead us to where we want to go and that β from a transactional perspective β weβre largely done.”
