Sources: Cowboys trade for Texans WR Cooks

The Dallas Cowboys are acquiring wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans in exchange for two draft picks, sources told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Adam Schefter on Sunday.

The Cowboys trading a fifth-round selection in this year’s draft and a 2024 sixth-round pick for Cooks, the sources said.

Cooks’ 2023 salary of $18 million guaranteed. It isn’t clear if the Texans are paying any of that salary.

Cooks, 29, has been vocal about his unhappiness in Houston and said he didn’t want to be part of a rebuild.

This is the fourth time Cooks has been traded. The Texans acquired him from the Los Angeles Rams in 2020.

Last season he had 57 catches for 699 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games but he cracked the 1,000-yard mark in his first two seasons with Houston.

For his career, he has 630 receptions for 8,616 yards and 49 touchdowns. He has six 1,000-plus yard seasons in his career.
