Browns RB Jerome Ford expected to miss 1-2 weeks with ankle injury, per report

The Cleveland Browns have been hit with their second injury at the running back position. Jerome Ford, who has filled in admirably for Nick Chubb following Chubb’s season-ending injury, is expected to miss 1-2 weeks after suffering what is considered a low grade, high-ankle injury during Sunday’s win over the Colts, according to ESPN.Β

Ford rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries prior to leaving Sunday’s game. The second-year, fifth-round pick rushed for 84 yards on 17 carries during the Browns’ upset win over the 49ers in Week 6. When Chubb went down with an injury in Week 2, Ford came in and rushed for 106 yards on 16 carries in Cleveland’s loss to Pittsburgh.Β

Fortunately for Cleveland, the team re-signed veteran Kareem Hunt shortly after Chubb’s suffered his season-ending injury. A former league rushing champion, Hunt ran for two scores during Sunday’s 39-38 win in Indianapolis.Β

Pierre Strong. Jr is the only other running back currently on the Browns’ active roster. A fourth-round pick of the Patriots in 2022, Strong has rushed for 102 yards on 21 carries in six games this season.Β

On Sunday, the Browns will face a Seahawks defense that is currently sixth in the NFL in rushing yards allowed. The unit did give up 127 yards on the ground during this past Sunday’s win over Arizona.Β
