Dunkest Playoff NBA Fantasy Tips, R1: Portis, without Lillard

Everything you need for Round 1 of Dunkest Playoff NBA Fantasy. From fantasy basketball tips, position by position.

NBA Playoffs, what happens to Fantabasket?

The regular season has ended, making way for the most thrilling part of the year: the NBA Playoffs. With the start of the postseason, the Dunkest Fantabasket dedicated to the Playoffs begins, offering a new challenge for all enthusiasts, with slightly different rules and dynamics compared to the regular season.

Teams not on the schedule

Teams (players, coaches, and unavailable ones) NOT on the schedule will NOT be considered β€œresting teams” and will NOT take their average score but 0.

NBA Fantasy Captain Picks

Are you unsure who to make captain for the Dunkest round? Here are our tips, one for each turn.

Centers

Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves, 13.5 cr)

As always, the position most penalized in the Playoffs is probably the center spot: reserves rarely see the court, often forcing us to focus on a single starting center of high caliber. Excluding Jokic, the standout name on this first day is the Frenchman, who in recent times – perhaps due to some internal changes within the team – has posted very interesting numbers, with an average of almost 40 PDK in his last few outings. Gobert has yet to face the new Lakers without AD, as the last matchup was in December, but we expect him to finish with 30/35 PDK, a solid tally for the Playoffs.

Jaxson Hayes (Los Angeles Lakers, 6 cr)

If we want to save credits to invest in other positions, avoiding 4th-string centers who rarely see the floor except during garbage time, the Lakers’ center could be the right choice. He’s a starter, true, but his minutes on the court aren’t that many. If your goal is to rack up 10/15 PDK, then this is the profile for you.

Forwards

Evan Mobley (Cleveland Cavaliers, 14.5 cr)

With an average of over 32 PDK per game this season and several double-doubles, Mobley is one of the most interesting forwards in the mid-price range. The series against Miami or Atlanta should wrap up quickly (we’re expecting a 4-0 or 4-1 result), and the USC product is likely to have a high-impact Dunkest performance.

Bobby Ports (Milwaukee Bucks, 9.5 cr)

Without Lillard, at least in this Game 1, he will be the second fiddle for the Bucks. After serving a 25-game suspension for using a banned substance, Portis has returned to putting up impressive numbers: 33, 18, and 31 PDK in the three games following his return. In the upcoming matchup against the Pacers, which promises to be exciting, especially from a Dunkest perspective, the former Knicks player will be one of the key protagonists.

Guards

Austin Reaves (Los Angeles Lakers, 13.5)

From nowhere to becoming the Lakers’ third star: this is Austin Reaves’ journey. After a season of steady growth, even with the arrival of Doncic, the time has come for him to make that final leap in quality that Los Angeles has been dreaming of for a long time to reclaim the championship. We believe in it.

Kevin Porter Jr (Milwaukee Bucks, 5.5 cr)

If he’s not a must-pick, he’s very close – especially considering that Lillard could (and should) return during this first round. The former Cavs and Rockets player finished the season with steady improvement, recording several performances above 20/25 PDK. For his quality-to-price ratio and the guaranteed minutes from coach Rivers, he is undoubtedly one of the best choices for this first day.

Coach

Rick Carlisle (Indiana Pacers, 6.5 cr)

Home-court advantage and the bonus coefficient make the coach of the Indiana Pacers one of the most interesting choices for this Game 1. With the Bucks still without Lillard and Game 1 scheduled in Indianapolis, Haliburton and his teammates will definitely want to start on the right foot – and they have all the right tools to make it happen.
