Wyc Grousbeck has said his family intends to sell the Celtics in two stages—51% now, and the rest in 2028 with him remaining in control until the second transaction closes.
Sportico values the Celtics at $5.66 billion. Any number close to that would be the highest price ever paid for control of an NBA team. The Celtics, however, do not own their arena as they are a tenant at TD Garden.
