Stephon Castle was named Rising Stars MVP as Team C will advance to play in Sunday’s All-Star Game. Castle will also participate in Saturday’s Dunk Contest, making him the first player since Blake Griffin in 2011 to participate in all three nights of All-Star Weekend.
Castle scored 11 points to go with three assists in Team’s C 25-14 win in the final. Castle’s team also includes Keyonte George, Dalton Knecht, Ryan Dunn, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jaylen Wells and Zach Edey. Amen Thompson has been added as the final player to the team for the All-Star Game when they take on NBA All-Stars headlined by Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
“As a basketball player, it’s really all I can ask for, watching those guys all the time growing up, so to share my first All-Star Weekend with them and be able to share the court with them is a blessing,” Castle told ESPN.
Past MVPs of the Rising Stars Challenge include Cade Cunningham, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Gilbert Arenas and Allen Iverson.
