LeBron James has been open about how his playing career is coming to an end. James hasn’t put a timeline on things, but he’s openly said things are winding down.
Now, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is said to be considering retirement. That could come within the next two years, according to sources close to James.
James was also reportedly not upset by the Lakers recent trade of Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic. James views the move as a business decision for Los Angeles to set up their future after he’s no long a part of it.
James has a $52.6 million player option for next season. As he has in the past, James is playing it year-to-year with his contracts. The expectation has been that he will opt out and sign another two-year deal with the Lakers, including a player option on the second season. This allows James to re-evaluate where things are at with himself and Los Angeles at the end of each season.
