New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray is settling in nicely with his new team after an offseason trade from the Atlanta Hawks. One thing aiding the transition is that Murray is back to playing his natural position of point guard.
“In Atlanta, I was in the corner and on the wings, and I made the best of it,” Murray said. “Here, they are allowing me to play my real position. Playing point guard. Keeping everything organized. And making dudes better. And doing what I do best.”
Murray was in trade rumors for much of last season, despite signing a four-year veteran extension that starts with this season. His fit with the Hawks never materialized as hoped for in two-ballhandler lineups alongside Trae Young. The Pelicans acquired Murray in exchange for Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance Jr., Cody Zeller, E.J. Liddell and two first-round picks.
