NFL DFS picks, 2024 NFL Kickoff Game: Chiefs vs. Ravens lineup advice, optimal stacks on DraftKings, FanDuel

USATSI

After an eight-month offseason, pro football returns with the 2024 NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday at 8:20 p.m. ET. The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens will meet in a clash between two AFC title-contenders, with several stars making their debuts in new uniforms. Baltimore added running back Derrick Henry in the offseason, giving the aging star an ideal offensive scheme. The Ravens routinely lead the league in rushing attempts, so Henry could be one of the most popular NFL DFS picks on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel.

On the other side of the field, the Chiefs added wide receiver Hollywood Brown, but he is not expected to play due to a shoulder injury. However, teammate Rashee Rice is not suspended by the league for any of his offseason issues, so he could be a viable option for your NFL DFS strategy. Before locking in any NFL DFS lineups for Ravens vs. Chiefs on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to check out the NFL DFS lineup advice, strategy and player stacks from SportsLine NFL daily Fantasy expert Jimmie Kaylor.

Kaylor is a NFL and DFS expert for SportsLine, who opened the 2022 NFL season by winning DraftKings‘ NFL Showdown Thursday Kickoff Millionaire contest. He edged out over 355,000 other entrants in the contest and also has multiple five-figure tournament wins on his DFS resume. Kaylor, who cashed big all season in 2022, has covered the NFL and college football for close to a decade as a member of the Pro Football Writers of America, and his background as a former college and NFL player gives him a unique perspective when building his fantasy lineups and locking in his betting picks on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel.

Kaylor hit on epic NFL DFS picks for SportsLine members throughout the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In 2022, he was all over Travis Kelce’s four-touchdown performance against the Raiders on Monday Night Football, Kirk Cousins‘ 460-yard, four-TD performance on Thanksgiving Day, and T.J. Hockenson’s 13 catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns in Week 15. In 2023, he hit on Ja’Marr Chase’s massive Week 5 performance (15 catches, 192 yards, three TDs), D.J. Moore’s eight catches for 230 yards and three touchdowns in Week 14, and De’Von Anchane’s breakout performance (233 total yards, four TD’s) in Week 3. Anyone who followed his picks is way up.

Now, Kaylor has turned his attention to Ravens vs. Chiefs in the 2024 NFL Kickoff Game and locked in his top daily Fantasy football picks.Β You can only see his picks and analysis at SportsLine.

Top NFL DFS picks for Chiefs vs. Ravens

One of Kaylor’s top NFL DFS picks for the NFL Kickoff Game 2024 is Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. While his 2023 numbers were considered a down year by his standards, Mahomes ranked sixth in passing yards, third in pass attempts and fifth in true completion percentage. He dealt with mediocre weapons at times, but Kansas City upgraded its roster to make Mahomes an even better DFS pick.

Mahomes is 5-1 as a starter in Week 1, going over 210 passing yards in all six of those games. He has also gone over 330 yards three times in Week 1, giving him an average of 294.7 passing yards per game. The two-time defending Super Bowl MVP is one of the most expensive players from the DFS player pool, but he is too good for Kaylor to pass up here.Β

Kaylor is also targeting Ravens running back Derrick Henry in his NFL DFS picks. The four-time Pro Bowler signed with the Ravens this offseason after eight dominant seasons with the Titans. The 6-foot-2, 247-pound running back has shown he can handle a significant workload when healthy as he’s led the NFL in carries in four of the last five seasons while leading in rushing yards in two of those years. Week 1 is often when players are at their healthiest and Henry appears to be at full strength entering the 2024 NFL Kickoff Game, which could mean some bruising runs for Kansas City defenders.

The Ravens averaged 5.1 yards per carry against the Chiefs in last year’s AFC Championship Game, including Gus Edwards averaging 6.7 yards per carry. Henry is a far more established runner than Edwards over his career and could create matchup problems for Kansas City. Baltimore gets its first chance to show off signing Henry in front of a national audience and Kaylor expects a huge workload from the 30-year-old running back who scored at least one touchdown in five of his final seven games last year.Β See who else Kaylor likes right here.
