NFL survivor picks 2024: Best football knockout pick, pool strategy, optimal grid, NFL schedule breakdown

USATSI

There’s little debate that quarterback is the most important position in sports and many NFL survivor players don’t look far past that position when making their weekly NFL survivor pool picks. It’s difficult to ignore a significant difference in perceived quarterback ability when looking over the weekly 2024 NFL schedule to decide which team you want to target for your NFL survivor picks. Vikings vs. Giants feature two quarterbacks, Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones, looking to prove they are NFL starters. Titans vs. Bears feature two young quarterbacks in Will Levis and Caleb Williams looking to showcase themselves. However, could it still be worth using any of these teams in your Week 1 2024 NFL eliminator pool picks? Before locking in any 2024 NFL survivor picks, be sure to check out the NFL survivor strategy from Vegas NFL expert R.J. White.

White has been SportsLine’s No. 1 NFL against-the-spread expert over the last seven years, going 636-534-34 against the spread to put him up more than 48 units on those picks at SportsLine since 2017. He has also delivered a 56.7% hit rate on his Vegas contest picks over the last nine seasons and has two finishes in the money, including finishing 18th out of 2,748 entries back in 2017.

Now, White has turned his attention to the 2024 NFL schedule and locked in his top NFL survivor pool picks and alternative strategy for the entire season. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top 2024 NFL survivor picks and strategy

One part of White’s 2024 NFL survivor strategy: He is not choosing the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, whom he considers the consensus play. The Bengals will be a popular play in Week 1, but they’ll also be a popular play at later points in the season. One of the perks of finishing in last place the season before is you play a softer schedule than the rest of the division. That’s the Bengals this year. There will be future chances to play the Bengals when many others can’t because of selecting them in Week 1 and if the Patriots do pull off the upset, you’ll have significantly fewer teams to compete with when that time comes.

The Patriots ranked 31st in scoring and 30th in points per game last season and they addressed their offensive significantly through the 2024 NFL Draft. Each of their first five picks and seven of their eight overall selections were offensive players, including two receivers in Ja’Lynn Polk (No. 37 overall) and Javon Baker in the fourth round. The Patriots are going through a quarterback competition in camp, which means whoever gets the Week 1 job is going to have earned it and could carry that positive momentum into Week 1. White doesn’t think this is the right spot to lose the Bengals as an option in 2024 NFL survivor pool picks.Β See the rest of White’s NFL survivor contest picks right here for every week.

How to make survivor pool NFL picks for the 2024 NFL season

White is taking a little more risk in Week 1 “by playing a lower-tier team.” This team will not be on many survivor players’ radar, potentially giving its backers a huge boost. This pick could be the difference between winning your survivor pool or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.Β
