The Minnesota Lynx retired the No. 23 jersey of Maya Moore in an emotional ceremony on Saturday.
Moore won four WNBA championships with the Lynx and was MVP of the league in 2014. Moore also was a five-time All-WNBA First Team selection to go with two Second Team nods over her eight WNBA seasons. Moore stepped away from basketball and eventually retired as she worked on justice reform.
“My life is an example of what it looks like when we love a little girl well,” she said. “There is no way we’re watching that [ceremony] without love. So many people having a hand in my life to show me what life is about. That’s what I tried to bring every day: life and joy. Because I’ve been a recipient of life and joy.”
