Timberwolves Interested In Monte Morris

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been looking to upgrade their bench. One spot the Wolves are looking to fill is at backup point guard behind Mike Conley. That has Minnesota looking at Monte Morris of the Detroit Pistons.

Morris made his Pistons debut on January 24. He’s played in all six games since returning from a right quad strain. The Timberwolves interest in the veteran guard dates back to last season, when Morris played for the Washington Wizards.

Minnesota president of basketball operations Tim Connelly originally drafted Morris in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. The Wolves have been looking to stabilize their backup point guard spot, and Morris has extensive experience in that role.

Morris is one of several veterans the Pistons are fielding offers for ahead of Thursday’s deadline. Detroit acquired the veteran point guard this summer in a salary-clearing trade from Washington.
