NFL Week 8 injury report: Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield, Chris Godwin questionable for ‘Thursday Night Football’

USATSI

Injuries are unfortunately a reality in the NFL, and all 32 clubs have had to weather health-related storms through seven weeks. Deshaun Watson is still dealing with a shoulder injury, Ryan Tannehill could miss significant time with an ankle injury suffered in London, Daniel Jones hasn’t played in a couple weeks due to a neck issue and then the San Francisco 49ers have several banged-up stars.

Let’s take a look at the injuries around the NFL. Below, we will break down the final injury report for Thursday night’s matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills, and the midweek injury reports for the other 28 NFL teams set to play on Sunday.

Odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Buffalo Bills (-8.5)

Buccaneers: OG Matt Feiler (knee), S Kaevon Merriweather (ankle) OUT; WR Chris Godwin (neck), QB Baker Mayfield (knee), DT Vita Vea (groin) QUESTIONABLE

Bills: TE Dawson Knox (wrist), LB Baylon Spector (hamstring), TE Quintin Morris (ankle) OUT; DT Ed Oliver (toe) QUESTIONABLE

For the Bucs, Godwin is questionable with a neck injury, but he was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Mayfield has described his knee issue as something that just requires pain tolerance, and he is officially listed as questionable to play despite being limited on Tuesday, and a full participant on Wednesday. Vea’s outlook appears to be a bit more bleak, as he did not practice at all this week.

Not too many surprises on the Bills’ injury report this week. Knox will be out indefinitely due to wrist surgery, and then Morris did not practice all week. Oliver was a limited participant in practice all week with a toe injury. Star quarterback Josh Allen was listed on the injury report with a right shoulder injury, but he was a full participant every day.
