It wasn’t that long ago that many of the NBA’s best players’ careers ended after about fourteen seasons. Legends such as Bill Russell, Isaiah Thomas, Kevin McHale, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and David Robinson each had relatively short careers compared to their modern-day counterparts.
Today’s stars are playing better for longer, and while that is obviously a good thing, it is important that a new generation of stars emerge to eventually replace them. Fortunately, the NBA shouldn’t have any issues in that department since the league is in the middle of a talent boom, with each draft seemingly producing a handful of new stars every year.
