It turns out the Heat were far from getting a deal done, as Miami simply didn’t want to pay the price it would take for Portland to accept a trade.

Even when talks had stalled between the Blazers and Heat, teams like the Raptors and Bulls were talked about as potential destinations for Lillard. In fact, entering the week, Toronto was considered the favorite to acquire the seven-time all-star.
