NBA Player Tiers: Ranking all 30 starting point guards

The point guard position likely ranks as the deepest position in the NBA, with just about every team having at least one good playmaker. That depth at the position has helped the league evolve and the NBA finds itself in a new offensive era—one that relies more on perimeter scoring and less on post play.

As a result, offense is king, and point guards are leading the charge. With 30 starting point guards in the NBA, we’ll divide them into six tiers to differentiate those players starting with tier 6.

NBA Tier 6: Too soon to tell Point Guards

Scoot Henderson
Cade Cunningham

First up, we have Tier 6, but, instead of being the worst the point guard position has to offer, it is intended for guards who have had limited time starting in that role. With Damian Lillard almost certain to be traded, Scoot Henderson will likely start for the Trail Blazers next season and get plenty of chances to show what he can do.

Henderson is one of the most hyped point guards in recent memory and has drawn comparisons to a young Russell Westbrook. He definitely looks the part and should be in the Rookie of the Year conversation, but it is hard to place him in a higher tier without him playing a single minute in the NBA.

Meanwhile, 2021 number-one overall pick Cade Cunningham barely played last season and has yet to play the equivalent of 82 games. He looked good when he was on the floor during his rookie season, but it is also still too early to place him.

Still, Cade could solidify himself as a Tier 3 point guard if he is able to stay healthy, and he could rise even higher in the coming seasons. As for Henderson, his ceiling is also high, and he could eventually crack Tier 2.
