Both the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers have had successful summers thus far. Despite that, each team has been rumored to be looking to further upgrade their rosters ahead of NBA training camp. The Pacers have been rumored to have interest in making a deal with the Toronto Raptors, while the Lakers have been linked to a center who is the best remaining free agent available.
Their interest in him makes sense since, at the moment, the Lakers appear to be fairly thin in the frontcourt. LeBron James and Taureen Prince are set to play small forward, Rui Hachimura and Jarred Vanderbilt at power forward, and only Anthony Davis and Jaxson Hayes at center. However, a proposed trade by Fanspo would see the Lakers make a late-summer deal with the Pacers to give them more size up front.
The Lakers are looking to build upon their strong showing post-all-star break and their surprise trip to the Western Conference Finals, and they could do just that by making a trade with Indiana. On the other hand, the Pacers are trying to compete now while also building around their young franchise player, Tyrese Haliburton, for the long term. Next, let’s take a look at the trade!
