There are certain players that look ready to make the leap to the big time who will be selected in the 2023 NBA Draft. But there are also certain skills that can transfer to the pros, even if the prospect isn’t entirely there yet.
One key skill at the next level is the ability to rebound. Once solely the domain of the big man, players of all sizes now have the ability to impact a game with their ability to grab boards, whether it’s swallowing up second-chance opportunities for opponents or grabbing a rebound and starting a quick fastbreak.
Teams in need of someone who can win rebound battles might take a look at some of the players listed.
Who are the best rebounders available in the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft?
The ability to rebound with aplomb likely isn’t enough to boost a fringe draft pick into the lottery. But that ability also shouldn’t be discounted by teams.
One doesn’t have to look particularly far to find an example of how a strong rebounder can impact a game. Nikola Jokic led the NBA playoffs in rebounds (and points and assists) this postseason. The two-time MVP was clearly the best player for a team that won its first championship. Yet the Denver Nuggets were able to grab him with the 41st pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, chosen while a commercial for Taco Bell aired.
Don’t hesitate to let us know if there are some under-the-radar prospects who are proficient in pounding the boards.
