Paul George Injury: “I thought I had broken my knee”

In one of the latest episodes of “Podcast P”, Paul George talks about his feelings immediately after suffering the knee injury during the match against the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 21.

When George jumped to grab the rebound, Luguentz Dort, the OKC forward, also arrived and crashed into him: upon landing, PG put his right leg down badly, causing it to hyperextend.

I immediately felt my leg go back. I immediately dropped the ball. I love how Dort competes, but it was an awkward play… I had the ball and he just came at me regardless. I don’t think it was aggressive, he’s just a hard-nosed player. It was an accident

The player did not return to the court and experienced a sort of flashback to 2014 when he broke his fibula and tibia in the same injured leg.

Once in the locker room, as he recounted, he calmed down immediately when he realized it was not such a serious incident.

I felt that pain where, when you close your eyes, you think something has to have happened. I immediately thought, ‘Is this what it feels like when you break your knee or your ligament?’ I couldn’t walk out of the court, but when I got back to the locker room, the pain dropped quickly

According to coach Tyronn Lue’s words, George will be re-evaluated in the coming weeks as the Clippers (40-36) are fighting to secure direct access and finish in the top six positions of the Western Conference playoffs.
