Is Joel Embiid playing tonight? Latest injury update for 76ers at Nuggets

The Philadelphia 76ers have only a handful of games remaining in the regular season but are limping to the finish line. Injuries have contributed to their struggles of late, and the 76ers would like to get healthy before the playoffs. However, they can’t afford to rest their star players with playoff seeding on the line. While they are unlikely to catch the Boston Celtics for the second seed in the East, they can secure the third seed.

That said, the Cleveland Cavaliers have made up significant ground with their recent play, and a bad stretch by the 76ers could cause them to drop from third to fourth in the East. Not if 76ers superstar and MVP candidate Joel Embiid can help it, but will he play their next game against the Denver Nuggets?

Joel Embiid’s injury status for the 76ers’ game at the Nuggets on March 27th

While listed on the injury report as questionable with a right shoulder injury, Embiid will likely try to play against Denver. After all, the MVP trophy could be on the line. With a strong showing, Embiid could all but wrap up the award.

When will Embiid play?

With Embiid questionable with a right shoulder injury, he could still sit this game out. He had shoulder issues earlier this season, and the 76ers could opt to be cautious with him with the playoffs less than two weeks away.

In addition to Embiid, Daniel House Jr. is also questionable to play against the Nuggets with a shoulder injury. Harden also appears on the 76ers’ injury report.

Philadelphia 76ers’ next 5 games

After the team’s upcoming game against the Nuggets, the Sixers face a tough five-game stretch that could determine their seeding in the Eastern Conference playoffs. They’ll play four Eastern Conference playoff teams, all vying for a better seed, as well as the Mavericks, who are desperately trying to make the postseason. Here are Philadelphia’s next five games:

All times are Eastern.

Wednesday, March 29-Dallas, 7:30 p.m.
Friday, March 31st, Toronto, 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 2nd, Milwaukee, 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, April 4th, Boston, 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, April 6th, Miami, 7:30 p.m.

Ultimately, Embiid appears to be a game-time decision. If he does play, however, then we will get an MVP showdown between Embiid and Nikola Jokic.
