There were more concerns about Alabama Crimson Tide and top quarterback prospect Bryce Youngβs size at his pro day on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud was the talk of the 2023 NFL Draft class, as he held a throwing session at his pro day. The Carolina Panthers,Β who hold the first overall pick in the draft, were front and center.Β But one day later, the focus was on Alabama quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, who competed at the Crimson Tideβs pro day.
Throughout the pre-draft process, the focus was on Youngβs size, particularly his height and weight. At the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month, YoungΒ officially measured at 5-foot-10 inches tall and 204-pounds. But, Young didnβt participate at the Combine.
Young did throw at his pro day on Thursday, but he didnβt get weighed again. He is standing by his weight at the Scouting Combine, as noted by NFL Networkβs Mike Garafolo.
Bryce Young refuses to get weighed at Alabama pro day
Garafolo continued in a subsequent tweet regarding his takeaway from Youngβs throwing session. While saying that Young βthrows bigger than he is,β he notes that the concerns surrounding him are more about his weight than his height.
Despite the size concerns, he is considered the best quarterback prospect in the class. But, it will all be a matter of preference from teams as to which one will select him. Of course, it all starts with the Panthers, who have made it evident that they are going to take one of Young, Stroud, Floridaβs Anthony Richardson, or Kentuckyβs Will Levis.
Speaking of the Panthers, a contingency of the organization that included head coach Frank Reich, owner David Tepper, general manager Scott Fitterer and more had dinner with Young on Wednesday night.
Young also met with the Las Vegas Raiders, who hold the seventh-overall pick, ahead of his pro day.
For those wondering if there would be an update on Youngβs height and weight at his pro day, the answer is no.
