Just today, I was looking at how bad the Denver Nuggets have been struggling on defense lately and it’s very bad. Now, you might wonder why that matters for a Pacers vs. Raptors prediction, well that’s because there is only one team that’s been worse, the Indiana Pacers. For the month of March the Pacers have a 121.1 defensive rating, which is clearly the worst in the NBA. They are a miraculous 4-5 in those nine games because their offense has a 117.7 rating, which is sixth in the league across that stretch.

They’re without their star point guard, Tyrese Haliburton, right now and tonight will be his sixth straight missed game with an ankle injury. Their offense hasn’t fallen off nearly as bad as it did the first time he missed an extended stretch this year. However, they have a serious lack of playmaking without him and their net rating in March is -3.3, 25th in the league.

The Raptors have been playing well, they’re 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, and have a positive net rating in March, yet they’re also 4-5 in the month. The metrics scream that the Raptors are going to start winning games and the Pacers are going to start losing them and losing badly.
