Cooks himself is pretty pleased about the trade, though one would imagine the ninth year veteran is also getting sick of changing homes so often. His move to the Cowboys marks his fourth trade of his career, tying former running back Eric Dickerson for the all-time league trade record.

From New Orleans to LA to Houston, Cooks has landed on a serious playoff contender in Dallas in 2023 and may get his best shot at winning a ring.

In his first comments as a Cowboy, Cooks emphasized how โ€œblessedโ€ he was to be in Dallas and that he looks forward to contributing to โ€œsomething thatโ€™s already special.โ€

Cooks posted six 1,000-yard seasons playing with a variety of quarterbacks โ€” thatโ€™s more 1,000-yard seasons than premier wideouts like Stefon Diggs and Davante Adams have recorded in their respective careers.

In 2022, Houstonโ€™s chaotic quarterback room saw him record just 699 yards and three touchdowns, his lowest mark in the last three years.

Cooks nonetheless fits in Dallas as a speedy YAC monster alongside deep threat CeeDee Lamb and sly route-runner Michael Gallup, whoโ€™s currently recovering from injury.

Dallas is still reeling from the loss of running back Ezekiel Elliott and tight end Dalton Schultz, two necessary cap casualties. Bringing on Cooks means the Cowboys can build a more incisive passing attack this upcoming season, and the team likely isnโ€™t done spending in free agency yet.

Cooks is here to win. Jerry Jones wants to win. Cowboys fansย desperately want to win. No more rebuilding eras for Cooks โ€” itโ€™s the real deal now.
